Marcus Rashford reveals his most ‘special’ memory in a Manchester United shirt

Marcus Rashford says the Manchester United match he treasures the most is his first-team debut.

The 24-goal attacker made his senior bow exactly six years ago on Saturday, scoring twice against Midtjylland in the Round of 32 of the Europa League aged 18 after coming on after Anthony Martial was injured during the warm-up.

Three days later he made his Premier League debut against Arsenal where he scored twice and assisted the other in a 3-2 win before netting the only goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester City a month later.

Later that season, he lifted the FA Cup at Wembley before clasping his hands on the Europa League and League Cup the year after. United have failed to win any silverware since but have the chance to end that wait in Sunday’s League Cup final against Newcastle.

There are questions over Rashford’s fitness ahead of kick-off with the 25-year-old coming off with what looked like an ankle knock late in Thursday’s win over Barcelona. Erik ten Hag said he would be assessed on Friday and the striker has since travelled down to London with the squad.

Rashford still had time to reflect on his six years in the first-team and took to social media to describe how the occasion was his favourite match in a United shirt.

Writing on Twitter with a video montage of his United career so far, he said: “So many special memories over the years but surely nothing tops making my debut.”

Rashford has made 340 United appearances, scoring 117 times and providing 66 assists.
