Marcelo's jaw-dropping pass for Real Madrid in 2016 UCL Final

When you sit down to watch a game of Champions League football, you expect to see something special.

Manchester City vs Real Madrid delivered ‘special’ by the bucket load on Tuesday night as both teams hammered it out for a spot in the Paris final.

From Bernardo Silva’s missile, to Fede Valverde’s naughty piece of skill, to Vinicius Jr’s superb solo goal, the clash at the Etihad really had it all.

Considering the fact that some of the best players in the world were on the pitch, it should come as no surprise to see that standard that we saw but, thankfully, it still blew us away.

And that’s exactly what the Champions League is all about – jaw dropping moments that fans will remember for years and years to come.

So why not take a look back with us at just one of those moments from days gone by, courtesy of serial winner, Marcelo.

The Brazilian was a crucial cog in that Real Madrid side that won three consecutive titles under Zinedine Zidane, building a European dynasty unlike anything we have ever seen before.

In the final of the first of those three titles, Real met bitter city rivals Atletico Madrid but Marcelo clearly wasn’t over-awed by the occasion.

He was at his enigmatic best, and no moment showed it better than when he pinged a fierce cross-field ball right onto the foot of his teammate.

What made it all the more impressive was that Marcelo hit it first time and on the volley.
