Marcel Sabitzer reveals his hope for Manchester United trip to Liverpool
Marcel Sabitzer is getting closer to opening his Manchester United account and the midfielder hopes he will do so against Liverpool this afternoon.
United can cement their place in the top four with a win at Anfield this afternoon, having seen both Tottenham and Newcastle lose on Saturday. Erik ten Hag has led his side to nine wins and two draws from their last 11 games in all competitions, but face a Liverpool side who have won three of their last four in the league at a ground they have not won at since 2016.
Sabitzer racked up another 86 minutes in Wednesday's 3-1 FA Cup win over West Ham, his sixth appearance since signing on loan from RB Leipzig in January. The Austrian is yet to find the net since his move from Germany but came closer than ever midweek, his effort destined for the bottom corner were it not for Alphonse Areola.

"As you said, [my first goal is coming] closer and closer," the midfielder told United's in-house media team. "I think it was a good shot [against West Ham] and a good save as well. Hopefully, on Sunday against Liverpool, I will score my first one!”
If he does find the net, family will be at the centre of any celebrations: “Emotions, you know, but I have one for my family, especially the heart. I will form the heart for them [if I score] – for my daughter and my wife and that’s it.”
Sabitzer stepped out onto the Anfield turf during his time with RB Leipzig in the 2020/2021 campaign, although it was empty due to Covid restrictions on large attendances. And whether it be from the start or off the bench, the 28-year-old will be looking forward to the fervent atmosphere.
