Manuel Akanji gives verdict on working with Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland at Man City

Manchester City debutant Manuel Akanji believes there is no limit to Erling Haaland's potential as he offered an insight into his former Borussia Dortmund teammate's off-field approach.

Akanji followed Haaland from Dortmund to City this summer, and revealed how Haaland texted him to persuade him to make the transfer on deadline day. After making his debut at Sevilla this week, Akanji spoke highly of Haaland and told City how to get the best out of him.

“At this point [finding the words] is hard," he said, explaining how he was not surprised at all to see Haaland silence doubters yet again.

"I have played with him for two-and-a-half years and a lot of people asked whether he can score goals at this level when he came to Dortmund and then they said that he needs to do this in the Premier League as well and he keeps on doing it. I think it is hard to doubt him anymore at this point.

"He is so young and he is scoring so many goals. He is also learning a lot more about the game, where he needs to be to help the team and he is making big steps. If he keeps on improving, the sky is the limit.

"When he gets the ball in the box, he scores. He holds up the ball very well, he has the pace to run in behind; there are so many things you have to be careful of as a defender.

"The team around him also played the perfect passes and make it easier for him. He works hard every day like the rest of us and that is why he gets the results.”
