Manchester United winger attracting interest ahead of January transfer window

Manchester United youngster Ethan Ennis is attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Ennis has been in excellent form for the Under-21s this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions, and is seen as someone who would benefit from a loan.

The Manchester Evening News understands Ennis is attracting loan interest from several clubs throughout the English football pyramid, including Championship and League One sides.

It's understood talks are ongoing ahead of the January window and if a loan is sanctioned for Ennis, his destination will be at the club who can pitch the best plan for his development for the remainder of the season, meaning minutes could be prioritised over a 'higher placed' side.

Ennis has been talismanic for the U21s this term. His goals in the National League Cup have been important and he notched a hat-trick against Altrincham in a 4-0 win last month.

The MEN reported in August that United had decided it was best for Ennis to stay with the U21s for the first half of the season before his situation would be assessed ahead of January.

Ennis was given a fresh two-year contract in the summer as his previous deal expired in 2025. He celebrated his 20th birthday last week and a loan would represent a fresh challenge.

Although Ennis has played in each attacking position in this campaign, it's thought his long-term future will be on the left wing and he is building a reputation as a goal scoring winger.
