Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has discussed RB Leipzig transfer with teammate

RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg says he will sit down with his club president to discuss a potential move for Anthony Elanga.

The Swede has already spoken to countryman Elanga about the prospect and has boasted about the German club’s reputation for enhancing the careers of young players. Elanga, 21, is tipped to leave United this summer after clocking only seven starts in 26 games this season.

United have halved their asking price to £10m, preferring a permanent move away so cash can be brought in to facilitate arrivals. More outgoings are expected than arrivals as United try to navigate Financial Fair Play rules following last year’s £225m spend.

Forsberg says he endeavours to discover if Leipzig are interested in a move for Elanga, the 31-year-old an admirer of the United academy graduate. “I will sit down with the president, with Oliver [Mintzlaff], here soon and see what we should do,” he told Fotboll Skanalen.

“We’ll see. Anthony would have been a good fit with us. A young player who wants to get better. We’ll see. It can happen.

“I have spoken to Anthony [about a Leipzig move]. But it stays between us. I know Anthony quite well, so it’s quite normal if it were to come up.

“But he is a young and talented player who fits in with us. We have been good at developing young and talented players.”

Elanga’s last Premier League goal contribution came as an assist against Liverpool in August and he has not found the net since firing home against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in March 2022.
