Manchester United took a big step towards securing Champions League qualification after beating Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds dropped Antony and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the bench for the game at Old Trafford, with Ten Hag explaining before the match that it was partly down to tactical reasons. Meanwhile, midfielder Donny van de Beek confirmed his recovery from a long-term injury is heading in the right direction.

Away from the pitch, United fans protested against the Glazers ahead of the clash with Villa, with about 1,000 supporters gathering in the city centre before marching to Old Trafford. Fan group The 1958 had asked fans to wait outside for the first 18 minutes of the match, but the majority of people were in the ground for kick-off.
