Manchester United's search for their first signing of the summer continues, with the pursuit of Frenkie de Jong proving to be more difficult than many would have hoped.

United have opened talks with Barcelona as they look to seal a deal for Erik ten Hag's former Ajax protégé, but the two clubs remain some way apart in their valuations of the midfielder. United are keeping their options open, and are willing to consider other targets should they continue to be frustrated by their Catalan counterparts.

RB Leipzig have reportedly slapped a huge price tag on Christopher Nkunku as they look to ward off interest from Manchester United and others.

Nkunku has been touted for a move away from Leipzig this summer after an outstanding season in Germany. The French international scored 35 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions, and beat Robert Lewandowski to the Bundesliga’s player of the year award.

United are among the sides to have been regularly linked with the 24-year-old. Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been suggested as retaining an interest.
