Manchester United transfer news live Erik ten Hag latest as Kieran McKenna deal confirmed

Kieran McKenna took himself out of the running to become Manchester United's next manager on Thursday by signing a new contract at Ipswich Town.

After being linked with United, Brighton and Chelsea over the past fortnight, McKenna has committed his future at the Portman Road club by signing a new long-term contract. He has signed a deal until 2028.

United were understood to have reached out to McKenna's representatives to discuss the prospect of him potentially succeeding Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Ineos' end-of-season review is still ongoing and no decision on Ten Hag's future is expected to communicated imminently.

Elsewhere, the summer transfer window is now exactly a fortnight away from opening for business. It will stay open til June 14 and United are continuing to put plans in place ahead of what is expected to be a summer of transformation. The club continues to be linked with a plethora of players. United want to strengthen a handful of positions and the centre-back department is among them.
