Manchester United transfer news LIVE reaction to Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's takeover offer

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the news that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has launched a bid for the club.

The Qatar banker is spying a whole-scale takeover having been a lifelong Reds fan. He is the second potential buyer to publicly confirm his interest following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's company Ineos declaring his last month.

MEN Sport understands that bids at this stage are only indicative and that the next stage will see bidders gain access to financial information before being required to table their final proposals.

The anticipated bid from Qatar comes amid concerns over domestic human rights issues in the country. A number of activist groups have urged Uefa to block a potential United takeover from a firm or businessperson from the nation because of this.

TODAY'S BIG TALKING POINT: What is your stance on the new bid from Qatari Al Thani? Have your say here.

United have been told they will need to pay £18m to sign Marcel Sabitzer.

Sabitzer arrived at Old Trafford from Bayern Munich on loan on deadline day.

But there is currently no option or obligation for a permanent switch.

However, reports from German publication BILD suggest the 28-year-old could stay with United into next season should they meet the asking price. Sabitzer made his name at RB Leipzig before heading to Bayern last summer.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has formalised an intent to purchase the club. It comes after the much-maligned Glazer family put the club up for sale in November last year and before the soft deadline at 10pm tonight.
