Cristiano Ronaldo dropped a curiously timed social media post during Manchester United's draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

The superstar has not travelled with Erik ten Hag's pre-season squad due to family reasons but wants to leave the club less than a year after making his return. He dropped his latest Instagram post during half-time in United's 2-2 draw with the Villans, showing him keeping fit in the gym ahead of the new season.

Ronaldo seems to be running out of options away from Old Trafford. Bayern Munich have ruled out a possible transfer while Chelsea and Real Madrid have reportedly also pulled out of the race.

Ten Hag says he is very much still part of his plans and has explained he will "integrate" him into the side, though did not disclose how.
