Manchester United told to do three things to turn season around

Erik ten Hag has been told that the formula for Manchester United’s season around starts on the training ground and physio room.

Saturday’s home defeat to Crystal Palace means United have endured their worst start to a league season in 34 years, having won just three of their opening seven matches. The Reds could be in the bottom half of the table should Fulham defeat Chelsea on Monday evening.

Ten Hag said he understood the boos that rang around Old Trafford at full-time on Saturday and said: “We have to be more consistent. This is not just a demand from Man Utd, the demand is that we get a row of wins, to get into a rhythm; we have to do better than we are doing right now.”

Robbie Savage has pinpointed several aspects that United need to work on in order to prevent United’s season going off the rails. The former academy graduate pointed to the list of injuries United have endured this season.

“He needs to get players back fit, he needs to get players back playing with confidence and that comes through work on the training ground,” he told Football 365.

Ten Hag had no option but to play Sofyan Amrabat at left-back in both games against Palace last week. He performed well in Tuesday’s League Cup tie but couldn’t find the same consistency in Saturday’s match.
