Manchester United suffer three more injury setbacks to hit record number

Manchester United have suffered three more injuries to take their toll for the season to a staggering 60 cases of injury or illness.

The Manchester Evening News revealed on Saturday Willy Kambwala, Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat were not part of the travelling squad for the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.

United have confirmed the trio have all succumbed to injury and manager Erik ten Hag has named four teenagers on the bench who are yet to make their debut.

Defender Louis Jackson, 18, has been promoted to the matchday squad for the first time while Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye and Ethan Wheatley have retained their places in the 20-man squad.

Jackson and Wheatley have not even been named on United's squad sheet in the match programme.

Harry Maguire has recovered from a thigh problem, having only returned to team training on Friday after resting for six days.

Maguire is joined at centre half by Casemiro, who started there against Burnley in the League Cup fourth round last season.

"We have some problems," Ten Hag admitted on Friday. "Harry: okay against Bournemouth, he struggled. He had a small injury and he didn't train this week so far but now he is back on the pitch.

"We expect him today to be back in team training and he will be available I hope, for Sunday."
