Manchester United sign off ‘holy cow’ USA tour as life-long memories made
Manchester United have completed their whirlwind pre-season tour of the USA.
Erik ten Hag’s side began their time in the US with a short training camp in New York. Their marquee game with Arsenal at the MetLife Stadium saw the club record a 2-0 win, much to the delight of the United contingent within the impressive 82,500 crowd.
The game was described as a “holy cow event” by Governor Phil Murphy, who captured headlines with his desire to see Premier League and Champions League games in the US. However, United’s win over the Gunners certainly left a lasting impression on the club’s loyal fans stateside, who enjoyed tailgate parties in the build-up to kick-off.
The New York Reds supporters’ club wrote on social media: “Thank you to all of you for making this weekend unforgettable. We are truly honoured to have such amazing fans among us. Safe travels for all fans going to the rest of the tour, and we look forward to seeing you all for the start of the season.”

Unfortunately, the New Jersey 7’s supporters’ group suffered some bad luck, though, with their new banner only arriving a few days after the clash with Arsenal.
United moved on to San Diego, where Ten Hag’s young team were tasked with taking on Wrexham, who have been adopted by many US soccer fans after the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. Prior to United’s defeat at the Snapdragon Stadium, the San Diego Union Tribune described the scene as supporters packed into ‘The Turf’, a recreation of the Wrexham pub made famous by the series.
