Manchester United sent Evan Ferguson transfer message ahead of summer window

Former striker Louis Saha believes Manchester United should consider recruiting a striker like Brighton star Evan Ferguson this forthcoming summer.

United, who will resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, are set to prioritise the addition of a striker this summer. Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane and Napoli star Victor Osimhen have cemented themselves as leading contenders to strengthen Erik ten Hag's pool of attacking options.

The Dutchman, who is understood to have identified Kane as his preferred target, is in desperate need of a fresh source of goals. Both Kane and Osimhen are enjoying stellar campaigns this season and would significantly strengthen United's squad.

But as well as targeting an elite-level striker this summer, there have also been growing calls for United to target the addition of a back-up striker with high potential. In recent weeks, Brighton ace Ferguson, who grew up as a Reds supporter, has attracted plenty of attention following a string of eye-catching performances.

And former United ace Saha, who spent four years in M16, believes Ferguson would be an ideal candidate for the Reds, should they plan to recruit a young striker this summer.

Asked if United should be targeting youngsters of Ferguson's ilk, Saha told Betfred: "Yes. When you're challenging for trophies, you also need to continue to focus on bringing young players through and getting them to a level where they're going to shine and be capable of being one of the best players in the world.
