Manchester United's second Mason Mount bid in detail as midfielder's exit explained

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines for Wednesday, June 21.

United have made a second and improved offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. It is understood that the latest bid is worth up to £50million and negotiations between the two clubs remain ongoing.

It is understood that United have offered to pay £45million up front and addition £5m in add-ons. Chelsea, however, are holding out for £15m more as part of the up-front fee.

The Reds agreed personal terms with Mount following discussions last month, meaning they have already sorted out one key part of the deal. Mount is out-of-contract at Stamford Bridge next summer and wants to leave the London-based club.

United are reluctant to continue increasing their offer because of his contract status. Manager Erik ten Hag is determined to strengthen his side's midfield options this summer and believes Mount is the ideal answer.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday evening, academy graduate Zidane Iqbal is poised to leave United and join FC Utrecht. It is understood that the Iraq international is set to join the Dutch side for a fee of around €1million.

The youngster, who celebrated his 20th birthday in April, failed to play a single minute worth of first-team football during the most recent campaign, despite impressing on last summer's pre-season tour. He wanted to leave on loan in January and was blocked from doing so by United.

Many expected him to leave on loan this summer instead and secure some much-needed first-team football. However, the Reds have decided that they are prepared to let him go on a permanent basis, ending his 11-year connection with the club.
