Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo named as Premier League's biggest taxpayer

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the Premier League's biggest taxpayer in a new study.

The Portuguese ace is currently coming to the end of the first year of his two-year deal at Old Trafford. Ronaldo, who re-joined United at the beginning of the season, reportedly earns around £550,000 per week at the Theatre of Dreams.

This would mean that Ronaldo makes a cool £26.5million per year, before tax. According to RIFT Tax Refunds, as reported by CityAM, the 37-year-old pays £12.78m to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

After this has been deducted from his wage packet, Ronaldo still takes home a whopping £13.74m in 12 months. At present, this is looking like money well spent by United.

Ronaldo is comfortably the club's leading goalscorer having notched his 24th of the season in the Reds' 3-0 victory over Brentford on Monday. Despite the victory, United remain five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal having played two games more.
