Manchester United player reveals conversation with Erik ten Hag about 'not playing'

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has revealed he has spoken to Erik ten Hag about his lack of game time at the club as he prepares to return to familiar territory this week.

United's Europa League trip to Fenerbahce has many narratives and the return of Bayindir to his former club is towards the bottom of the list, given he is unlikely to usurp Andre Onana in goal.

The 26-year-old has made just two appearances since joining United for £4.2m in 2023. They came against Newport County last season when Onana was at the Africa Cup of Nations and then against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup earlier this season. Bayindir is yet to appear in the Premier League or in Europe and that is unlikely to change on Thursday, with United needing a result after taking one point from their opening two games.

United will face former boss Jose Mourinho, as well as ex-players Fred and Sofyan Amrabat. Bayindir will be hoping to get a chance, but he revealed in an interview with TRT Spor in Turkey that he had discussed his situation with his manager.

"I had a conversation with manager Erik ten Hag about not playing for Manchester United. I always respect the manager's decision, but I will do everything to play," he said.

"I am just focusing on the pitch. There has been untrue news about many of our players playing in Europe. I am a person who is trying to be successful in the team I am in and to get the reward of the effort I have put in, but of course, no one knows what time will show.
