Manchester United player ratings vs Burnley as Jadon Sancho good but Harry Maguire poor

David de Gea

Had to punch away the odd aerial delivery before he brilliantly denied Wout Weghorst's volley at 1-1. 7

Diogo Dalot

Not troubled too much by the quicksilver Maxwel Cornet and could have offered more in attack but was disappointing. 6

Raphael Varane

Unfortunate to be denied his first goal for the club and came close to scoring with a flick at 1-1. Defensively, coped well. 7

Harry Maguire

Adjudged to have interfered when Varane headed in and cost United another goal with his cumbersome attempt to thwart Jay Rodriguez. Also booked for a cynical foul on Rodriguez. 4

Luke Shaw

Back to his best in attack. Assisted Paul Pogba and could have created another goal but played Rodriguez onside. 6

Scott McTominay

Competed well in the physical duels but could have done more when attacking openings came his way. Made way for Jesse Lingard. 6

Paul Pogba

Scored his first goal of the season with a neat finish and classy on a sound return to the Premier League, even if his influence waned in the second-half. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Made things happen again and his direct pass accelerated the move for Pogba's goal. Like his teammate, he was not as influential after half-time. 7

Marcus Rashford

Tested Nick Pope, combined with Shaw for the opening goal and almost assisted Varane to make it 2-1. Sometimes guilty of not playing a key pass when it was on. 6

Jadon Sancho

Transmitted his cup form to the league with a performance reminiscent of his Bundesliga days. Looks a completely different player since the break. 8

Edinson Cavani

Could have crowned his return with a poacher's goal but the ball bounced off Pope's knee and the miss was costly. Substituted for Cristiano Ronaldo. 5

Subs

Cristiano Ronaldo

Missed a good chance with a header. 5
