Manchester United player ratings vs Tottenham as Bruno Fernandes terrible and six 3/10s

Manchester United were battered 3-0 by Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Brennan Johnson put Spurs ahead in the third minute after some poor United defending, and that set the tone for an awful first-half display from the home side. Johnson nearly doubled his tally when he hit the post and United’s task of coming from behind was made even tougher when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a cynical foul on James Maddison.

Dejan Kulusevski made it 2-0 early in the second half and it was Dominic Solanke who completed the scoring with a late tap-in.

Andre Onana

Denied James Maddison and Timo Werner in one-on-ones at 1-0 and then Werner again at 2-0 to keep the scoreline down. 6

Had little protection from Alejandro Garnacho up against Destiny Udogie and Tottenham's fluidity caused him plenty of strife. 4

Matthijs de Ligt

A distant second-best of the two Dutch defenders on the pitch. Often unnerved by Tottenham's pace and intensity. 3

His awkward start to the season continued. Distribution was awry and dived in rashly in the build-up to the second goal. 3

Diogo Dalot

Erik ten Hag should have moved him from left back weeks ago. So bad for the first goal he held his hands up before Brennan Johnson had scored. Booked. 3

Manuel Ugarte

Underestimated Micky van de Ven for the first goal and was overwhelmed on his first Premier League start. Integrated into the league XI too late. 3

Kobbie Mainoo

Created a great chance for Joshua Zirkzee before he sustained an injury and was replaced by Mason Mount in the first half. 6
