Manchester United player ratings as Amad brilliant but Altay Bayindir terrible vs Tottenham
Manchester United were beaten 4-3 by Tottenham in the quarter-final of the League Cup on Thursday.
United fell behind early on after Altay Bayindir made a mess of Pedro Porro’s long-range shot and Dominic Solanke fired home the rebound.
Spurs struck again early in the second half as Lisandro Martinez’s weak clearance fell to Dejan Kulusevski and he made no mistake from eight yards out.
Solanke grabbed his second just seven minutes later with a smart finish before two terrible Fraser Forster errors allowed United back into the game thanks to goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Amad. Son Heung-min scored direct from a corner before Jonny Evans made it 4-3 in stoppage time.
Here are how the players rated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:
Altay Bayindir
Started badly and compounded it with shoddy goalkeeping for Dominic Solanke's goal on the rebound that gave Spurs the lead. Pathetic for the clincher. 3
Leny Yoro
Showed again why United invested so heavily in him in the summer, particularly with his poise on the ball under pressure. Maturity belied his 19 years. 7
Victor Lindelof
Made his fourth start of the season and did not last the first half as he succumbed to yet another injury. 5
Lisandro Martinez
Weak clearance teed up Dejan Kulusevski to extend Tottenham's advantage early in the second half and even worse for the third goal. 4
Noussair Mazraoui
Should have been booked before he was eventually carded for a cynical foul. Had a great chance to equalise. 6
Manuel Ugarte
Provided silk and steel in midfield with his best half yet for United. Oozed authority with a new midfield partner and only came off as United chased the game. 7
Christian Eriksen
Some of his passing was vintage Eriksen but he blemished his first
