Manchester United monitor Mason Mount as Chelsea contract standoff continues

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Mason Mount’s future at Chelsea, according to reports.

Chelsea news, exclusives and analysis

The England international will have just a year remaining on his contract this summer and Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement with the midfielder over a new deal.

Liverpool are already monitoring Mount’s situation as the 24-year-old is reluctant to sign a long-term contract which is on offer from Chelsea’s new owners.

According to ESPN, United are among the clubs who are considering a move for Mount this summer if Chelsea decide to sell.

The report claims that Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in the England international, who is looking for a ‘significant increase’ on his current £80,000-a-week salary.

Meanwhile, Marca reports that Mount has been offered to Atletico Madrid as Chelsea attempt to negotiate a permanent deal for Joao Felix.

The Portugal international is on loan at Chelsea until the end of the season but the report claims that the forward is keen to make the move permanent.

However, Atletico are looking to recoup as much of the £113 million (€126m) they spent on signing Felix from Benfica in 2019.

The report claims that Atletico’s preference is a cash-only deal, while Mount’s salary demands would be out of range for the Spanish club.
