Manchester United might have their Paul Pogba replacement plan

No matter who takes charge of Manchester United this summer, it seems likely they will need to rebuild a squad which is about to lose their most individually talented player. The weekend draw with Leicester brought United's dismal season closer to an end as the team went through the motions, though it also represented another match in which Paul Pogba ticked towards the end of his second spell at the club.

Six years after the Frenchman first left United as a free agent, the 29-year-old is nearing the end of his contract and what is set to be another new beginning away from Old Trafford.

It will be interesting to see how Pogba is remembered when he finally leaves the club, after a six-year spell in which only one of them saw the club win silverware. In some spells he has been unplayable, while in others he simply hasn't been playing.

Pogba has retained the support of most match-going fans since he returned to the club, though even his most avid supporters would find it hard to dispute the fact that his time at the club will be associated with wasted potential and unfulfilled ambitions.

It would be unusual for a player to announce they are to leave the club so far before the end of the campaign, though those inside the dressing room might already accept that Pogba won't be renewing his contract.

United are still planning for Pogba to leave in the summer and sources close to the former Juventus midfielder say there is still no inclination he would commit to United at the 11th hour with the situation remaining unchanged.
