Manchester United might have a £35m solution to their striking problem

Manchester United have now announced that Erik ten Hag will be their next permanent manager so of course, the conversation has now turned to who the club will sign in the first window. A defensive midfielder, a creative replacement for Paul Pogba and a right-winger will all need to be targeted.

But another position that the club will need to address is the number nine spot. The Manchester Evening News understands that United want to sign a young striker to work alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, there might be a sticking point. A lot of the young strikers that are available on the market right now are extremely expensive; Tammy Abraham has a quoted price tag of £100m, Victor Osimhen is in a similar price range and Darwin Nunez has also been reported to be around £66m from Benfica.

So United may have to look elsewhere and one striker some fans have suggested they should target is Ajax's and Ten Hag's current gunman, Sebastian Haller. The Ivorian forward has been in great form this season, scoring 33 goals in 39 appearances including 11 in the Champions League.

Ronaldo has also been in good goalscoring form but it has been his all-around game that has come into question by United fans and this is what Haller would be able to offer as the archetypal Ten Hag striker. He has nine assists in all competitions this season and constantly brings the other forwards into play by holding the ball up then playing it to one of the wingers or the number 10.
