Manchester United have failed to heed Jose Mourinho warning about Paul Pogba

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba looks set to leave the club in the summer, with his current contract due to expire and no word on fresh terms being penned.

Having moved back to United in 2016, the French midfielder has left supporters frustrated by his inability to produce on a consistent basis. His character has often been questioned by fans, while former United boss Jose Mourinho has also questioned his commitment in the past.

The current Roma manager often used the 29-year-old as a scapegoat for the team's poor showings during his time at Old Trafford, with many believing he was simply trying to provoke a reaction from the former Juventus man. Pogba's recent comments to the media about how he feels the club's season is 'dead' have also not helped his popularity at United.

Back in September 2018, Mourinho famously said Pogba would never captain the side again, citing concerns with the midfielder's attitude.

"The only truth is that I made the decision for him not to be second captain anymore but there is no fallout, no problem," Mourinho began.

"I am the manager, I can make these decisions. No fallout at all, no problem at all, just a decision that I don't have to explain."

Pogba was then seen arguing with Mourinho in an open training session captured by Sky Sports cameras, with the Portuguese coach having to then explain the reason behind their dispute due to a mix-up regarding an Instagram story posted by Pogba.
