Manchester United handed Leny Yoro injury recovery boost as Erik ten Hag drops hint

Erik ten Hag is confident Leny Yoro will be back in training soon after revealing the centre-back is progressing well with his rehab from an injury picked up in pre-season.

Yoro fractured the fifth metatarsal on his left foot during the club's pre-season friendly against Arsenal and underwent surgery in early August, with an initial timeframe that he would be absent for three months. The 18-year-old has been back at Carrington recently and is no longer using crutches and Ten Hag has delivered an encouraging update on his injury.

"Yes, he is doing very well," the United boss said. "It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process.

"He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training."

Yoro was Ten Hag's first signing of the summer window, joining from Lille in a £52m deal after United had seen off competition from Real Madrid. He featured against Rangers at Murrayfield in July but then suffered an injury in the first half of the first game of the pre-season tour of the United States. In his absence Lisandro Martinez and fellow new arrival Matthijs de Ligt have formed a promising partnership at centre-back.

Yoro could return to action in November while Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof are all closing in on a return to action as well.
