Manchester United favourite watched Premier League fixture vs Aston Villa with fans

Antonio Valencia watched former side Manchester United defeat Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday, with the ex-Reds sat amongst fans inside Old Trafford.

The Ecuadorian saw Erik ten Hag's side secure a 1-0 victory over the Midlands outfit at the weekend thanks to Bruno Fernandes' first-half strike. United remain on course to finish inside the top four in the Premier League this season - currently sitting two points behind third-placed Newcastle with a game in hand.

Valencia, who made 339 appearances for the Reds between 2009 and 2019, watched the game with fans as he made a return to Old Trafford. He posed for pictures with a host of supporters before and during the clash, with several images being shared on social media.

Taking to Twitter, Robert Laing wrote: "What a great day taking @anto_v25 back to Old Trafford to see @ManUtd beat Villa, a brilliant player for the club who always put in 100%, an important victory and a few beers to celebrate... see you again soon mate".

During his time with the Reds, Valencia won six major honours - including the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup. He arrived from Wigan as a right-sided winger, but soon transitioned to right-back and went on to captain United from 2018 to 2019 before leaving for LDU Quito.

For Ten Hag's side, meanwhile, they are back in action against Brighton on Thursday night, with the Reds looking to end their Premier League on a high before taking on Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3.
