Manchester United fans tell club what they must do as Reds eye five new signings

Manchester United supporters are not holding their breath when it comes to their club’s transfer ambitions - and have called on the club to just make one new addition to set the ball rolling on their summer window.

United are yet to sign anyone this summer with their top six rivals already bringing new faces in. It’s led to some fans being concerned about preparations ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the club are after five new recruits this summer. One of them is Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong with discussions progressing over a potential deal for Erik ten Hag ’s top target.

Jurrien Timber is the Dutchman’s preferred defensive choice with Antony and Christian Eriksen also on his wish list. Pau Torres and Braga’s David Carmo are alternative options should a deal for Timber not materialise, while United also want a new goalkeeper to offset the expected loan departure of Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest.

A number of United fans on Twitter have reacted to the news with hints of pessimism. Some are not certain their club will be able to land as many as five players while others are just desperate to see a new face through the door.
