Manchester United face competition from Man City for Declan Rice and other rumours

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from neighbours Manchester City in their bid to sign West Ham's Declan Rice.

The Hammers midfielder has been instrumental in his side's rise up the Premier League table and has established himself as a key member of Gareth Southgate's England squad. United have already identified the heart of the midfield as their 'biggest problem' as they look to strengthen the side this summer.

The 23-year-old was tracked by United during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign. Should Erik ten Hag wish to reignite the club's pursuit, he'll face competition from City.

The Daily Mail report that the Premier League champions will be joining the race to sign the England international. West Ham manager David Moyes previously claimed Rice is worth in excess of £150m. City are on the hunt for a central midfielder with Fernandinho set to leave the Etihad this summer.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star report that United are exploring the possibility of signing Brentford playmaker Christian Eriksen. It has been reported that the Dane is on Ten Hag's wishlist having trained with Ajax prior to his return to the Premier League.

Eriksen is a free agent in the summer and has been with the Bees since January after making a sensational comeback to professional football following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. The report claims Ten Hag is optimistic about bringing the 30-year-old to United.
