Manchester United confirm Premier League squad as fixture postponements create Casemiro problem

Erik ten Hag has confirmed his 25-man Manchester United squad for the Premier League season.

United signed Martin Dubravka, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony this summer and all six of the new signings have been named in the squad, which was officially confirmed for the 2022/23 season on Wednesday.

The Premier League's rules outline that each squad contains no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the 'Home Grown Player' criteria, which means the rest of the squad must be homegrown and Cristiano Ronaldo is an example of a player eligible for that list.

If Erik ten Hag is concerned about Manchester United taking their Europa League assignment in Moldova too lightly, then he could do worse than give the floor to Casemiro.

United are travelling to Chisinau on Wednesday for a group fixture against a team playing their games in the capital city, due to their base of Transnistria - a breakaway region not recognised internationally - being on the Ukrainian border.

It's an arduous trip for a team accustomed to the glamour of the Champions League, but United have to win in the Zimbru Stadium, after losing to Real Sociedad last week, while Sheriff Tiraspol started their campaign with an impressive three points in Cyprus.
