Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has shown where he disagrees with Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson will rightly go down as one of Manchester United's greatest legends.

The Scot took over with the club languishing in the footballing wilderness and having not won a competitive trophy for five years. Sound at all familiar?

After undertaking a wholescale revamp of his United playing squad, Ferguson won the 1990 FA Cup to earn his first trophy and end a barren five years to kickstart his trophy-laden spell at the club that would see him claim 37 more winners' medals. In many ways, current United boss Erik ten Hag will no doubt be inspired by Sir Alex's achievements at Old Trafford.

But less than nine months after walking through the door, it has become clear the one area Ten Hag very much differs to his highly-decorated predecessor.

Ferguson was known for his fiery temper during his time in the United dugout - with few escaping the focus of his wrath. Players, referees, broadcasters - you name it, Sir Alex probably had a pop at them at one time or another.

Even the fixture list planner came in for some stick from Fergie, who would regularly berate the number of games his side had to play.

After his side were forced to play each Premier League fixture away from home after each of their away Champions League group stage fixtures in the 2008/2009 season, he even accused the fixture planners of "handicapping" the Reds.

Ferguson said: "I've been saying this for a few months, but our programme didn't do us any favours and I think we have been handicapped by the Premier League in the fixture list.

"They tell me it's not planned. I've got my doubts. I'm not saying what they do down there, but next year we will be sending somebody
