Manchester United are about to discover if Rangnick has solved Solskjaer's biggest problem
It is really tricky to judge just how well Ralf Rangnick has done since he took over as Manchester United interim manager at the back end of November.
In terms of cold hard stats, United have lost once in 90 minutes under the German, with another defeat on penalties to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. They have scored 19 goals, conceded 10 and kept five clean sheets from 14 games and they're fourth in the Premier League table.
Their hopes of silverware now solely rely on an unlikely Champions League success, and Rangnick has himself admitted that the best possible outcome this season would be to finish fourth.
United have entered damage limitation mode in a season in which they should have been genuinely challenging for the title, with the conservative approach also evident in their on-field performances.
