Manchester United and Barcelona to compete for Ryan Gravenberch and other transfer rumours

Barcelona are ready to enter the race to sign highly-rated Manchester United 'target' Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax - according to reports.

Having missed out on a top-level defensive midfielder last summer, Manchester Evening News understands United will prioritise that position during the upcoming window.

Declan Rice is still viewed as target number one in that regard.

West Ham are thought to have placed a £120million price tag on the England international.

Depending on what happens with soon-to-be free agent Paul Pogba, meanwhile, United could be prompted into a second midfield signing this summer.

Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham has been earmarked as one possible replacement for Pogba.

However, the Premier League giants have also been linked with box-to-box Netherlands teenager Gravenberch.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, though, United are not the only potential suitors for a player whose deal expires in 2023. Tipped for the top across Europe, that same report suggests Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also set to battle it out for his sought-after signature.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that Pogba would have to accept a reduced salary to re-sign for Juventus.

Speculation over the World Cup winner and his Old Trafford future remains at fever pitch and United are preparing to lose the France international on a free transfer for the second time.

A decade on from his initial move to Turin, the 28-year-old continues to attract attention from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish table-toppers Real Madrid.

Pogba has yet to pen fresh terms at United and that long-standing saga rumbles on.
