Manchester to get its first sake bar at exciting development

The first dedicated sake bar is to arrive in Manchester next month. Called Monkey Trio, it will fling open its doors on the Circle Square development, on the site of the former BBC building on Oxford Road.

The bar will be situated at the bottom of the Vita Living North building, and while specialising in sake, it will also sell a host of Japanese whiskies and ‘matcha beers’. It’s among a raft of new openings for Circle Square.

Next to Monkey Trio will be a second branch of Tsujiri, the matcha dessert spot that already has a site on Faulkner Street in Chinatown.

Bird of Prey, a new fried chicken spot, will also be throwing open its doors at the foot of the Vita North Building too. It’ll specialise in chicken wings and American-style fried chicken and waffles, and boasts ‘a secret method for dredging and frying its chicken’, as well as serving custom shakes.

Also new to the development will be cosmetics store Momo, at the Vita Living East Tower, which will sell Japanese and Korean skin care products and food, and bubble tea store Uncle T.

“Circle Square is fast becoming Manchester’s go-to destination with new restaurants and retailers opening each month, there’s a real buzz surrounding this new community and what’s to come and we can’t wait for Manchester to get its first Japanese sake bar with Monkey Trio and Tsuiri, showstopping fried chicken and waffles thanks to Bird of Prey and Pan-Asian teas and cosmetics with Uncle T and Momo,” said Vita’s Max Bielby.

The Hello Oriental restaurant, bakery, bar and supermarket opened at Circle Square last month, with live events and club space Canvas set to open at some point this year too.
