Manchester's first 'sports season card' offering £3.50 pints to be trialled at new Irish bar

Manchester's newest Irish bar, Mother Mary's, has announced plans to launch a 'sports season card' that will feature big discounts on popular drinks - including £3.50 pints.

The venue, on New Wakefield Street in the city centre, opened last month after taking over the former premises of 'legendary' bar, The Font. The bar, which was famous with students, announced its shock closure last year after more than 20 years.

Mother Mary's new sports card offering will be a city first, priced at £10 per season, with the incentive of bring people together through sport. The season pass will host various benefits that will include big discounts and drink deals for cardholders across a series of events.

The season card will come into play during screenings of the Premier League, Rugby Union, League and International, Women’s Super League, F1, International Cricket, NFL and NBA. The venue has said it will also host premium live events such as the WWE and boxing.

Cardholders will be able to get discounts on pints, doubles and member specific cocktails, as well as take advantage of priority table bookings, meetups, member specific events, and discounts from local venues and other sites. Perhaps most excitingly, it will also let members have a say in the bar's viewing schedule.

As part of the scheme's initial trial run, there will only be 200 season cards up for grabs. Those with a card can enjoy £3.50 house pints, saving £1.50, as well as £4.50 for singles and £6.50 for doubles. Guinness will also be available for £5.

Located near Oxford Road train station, Mother Mary's venue has been created to be able to host seven different
