Manchester Pride warning as people are being 'mis-sold' ecstasy that's actually monkey dust

Police have warned revellers at this weekend's Manchester Pride festival after drugs being advertised as ecstasy was actually found to be 'monkey dust'. Experts discovered that drugs being sold as powdered ecstasy was actually synthetic cathinone, a class B drug also known as 'monkey dust'.

Police seized drugs being advertised as ecstasy, a class A drug, last night. They said the drugs had been 'circulating' at the Pride festival.

Anyone who falls ill is urged to urgently seek medical attention. "We have been made aware by Manchester Pride of synthetic cathinone (Monkey Dust) being mis-sold as powdered ecstasy," officers said on the GMP City Centre Facebook page.

"Following a number of seizures of ecstasy (MDMA) in Manchester City Centre tonight (26 August 2022), MANDRAKE lab testing has found synthetic cathinone (Monkey Dust) being mis-sold as powdered ecstasy (MDMA) which is circulating the Manchester Pride Festival. Please be aware of this and if you feel unwell seek medical attention immediately."
