Services between Manchester Oxford Road and Bolton have been delayed following reports of 'trespassers' on the line. Delays are expected until 7pm, as some services have been cancelled. "Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed.

Disruption is expected until 19:00 23/09. "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to your journey today." In an update on their website, Northern Rail said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Salford Crescent and Bolton some lines are blocked.
