Manchester City vs Liverpool Community Shield 2022: Who are the favourites?

The Community Shield 2022 between Manchester City and Liverpool is taking place this weekend – but who are the favourites?

This year’s Community Shield is a serious battle of the big boys. Manchester City take on Liverpool after their sides clinched the Premier League title and the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will face-off again, but this time for some early silverware which will surely give one of the sides a boost heading into the new season.

City featured in last season’s Community Shield but unfortunately for them, they came back to Manchester with a loss after a former Cityzen, Kelechi Iheanacho dispatched a penalty in the 89th minute to give Leicester a 1-0 victory at Wembley.

Guardiola’s side will be looking to avenge their defeat from last year, but this time opponents of Liverpool look much tougher on paper, so it will be no easy affair.

The two sides both have a new attacking threat in the form of Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, so it’ll be really interesting to see how these two match up in their first competitive fixture at their new clubs. There will no doubt be comparisons between these two powerhouses all year – so what better way to kick off the debate than an early battle for a trophy.
