Manchester City told Erling Haaland's 'only weakness' after Arsenal win

Ally McCoist believes that Erling Haaland's 'only weakness' is that his Manchester City teammates aren't delivering him the ball quickly enough.

Haaland got off to a flying start since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, the Norwegian's 18 goals in 13 Premier League games before the World Cup setting him well on his way to breaking all kinds of records. But while the 22-year-old's goalscoring form continues to amaze, there is a growing sense that he is still somehow not at full throttle.

Ahead of Wednesday's trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal, Haaland had not scored in two league starts - a relative drought - and failed to record a single shot on target during the 135 combined minutes against Tottenham and Aston Villa. But McCoist believes the only problem is coming from a lack of service for the 22-year-old.

"The one thing that strikes me when I look at him is his physical size," McCoist told Amazon Prime. "Take away the ability to score goals, but if you're a defender playing against him you know you're in a game.

"The only weakness I see at this moment in time - and he touched on it in your conversation - the only weakness is that perhaps his teammates aren't getting the ball to him quick enough. The balls have to come in from wider areas, Kevin de Bruyne is the one for me who sees it and will do it all the time.

"But I think sometimes as a centre-forward, you'll know if Jack [Grealish] is on the left-hand side and cuts back, just deliver it. Mahrez on the other side left foot, just deliver it."
