Manchester City players treated to 'best fish and chips in town' by award-winning chippy
They're used to winning awards, but staff at a Salford chippy had some champion mouths to feed this week.
Fresh on the back of being named one of Fry Magazine’s 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways earlier this month, Sykes Fish and Chips, based in Pendlebury, Swinton, was invited to cook up some of its award-winning fish and chips for Manchester City's first team.
Owner Anthony Sykes and his team headed along to the training ground on Thursday and served up their much-loved traditional fare to the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and manager Pep Guardiola.
Sharing a photo from the special occasion on Facebook, the chippy said: "Proud moment for Sykes Fish and Chips! Today, we had the honour of serving the Manchester City first team and staff with the best fish and chips in town! Fuelling champions with quality, fresh, and delicious food."
The Sykes team who attended were fans of the Blues, which made it an extra special day for the team.
"It was an absolute privilege to cater for the Manchester City team at their training ground," said Anthony. "At Sykes Fish and Chips, we take pride in serving quality, traditional fish and chips, and it was fantastic to bring a proper taste of Manchester to the players."
Sykes was one of four Greater Manchester takeaways to make it onto Fry Magazine’s list.
The others were Pennington Plaice in Leigh, The Fish at Goose Green in Wigan, and the Town Street Fryer in Marple Bridge, Stockport.
