The main means of fighting a fire can also be compromised if the lift lobbies and shafts are not protected, preventing emergency services from utilising the firefighting lift and accessing the upper floors.

Sheridan Lifts has taken the lead in initiating fire safety and passive fire protection in new and existing buildings. This initiative has seen the implementation of state-of-the-art software which provides recordable, manageable and traceable records of the condition of lifts and lift shafts for fire offices to review.

Sheridan Lifts engineers have multi-disciplinary training under recognised certifications. This allows them to carry out passive fire stopping surveys and the installation of certified products providing protection against passive fire in buildings.

As part of Sheridan Lifts’ lift servicing and lift installation services, firestopping services are offered free of charge and as standard. The team provides reports to give building managers, landlords, and contactors the required information to ensure optimum safety when it comes to passive fire stopping.

As part of supporting their growing portfolio of clients, Sheridan representatives have been introducing and educating their customers on the processes involved to ensure their
