Man Utd v Arsenal: Gabriel Martinelli has goal controversially ruled out

Manchester United welcomed Arsenal to Old Trafford for their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides went into the game in great form.

After a tough start where they lost their opening two games, United bounced back with victory over Liverpool and followed that up with wins over Southampton and Leicester.

The Gunners, meanwhile, had won each of their five games and were six points better off than United going into the match.

United started the game off strongly but it was the away side that thought they had taken the lead just after the 10-minute mark.

Christian Eriksen was bundled over by Martin Odegaard just inside Arsenal’s half and the Gunners countered.

Bukayo Saka slipped through Gabriel Martinelli and the Brazilian brilliantly clipped the ball past the onrushing David de Gea and into the net.

The Red Devils protested the goal, believing they should have been given a free-kick moments before for the foul on Eriksen.

VAR looked at the decision and advised Paul Tierney, the referee for the match, to look at the pitch-side monitor.

And Tierney decided to reverse his decision and rule out the goal. Watch the moment below…
