Man Utd transfer round-up: De Jong rebels against Barcelona as Ronaldo makes feelings clear

Manchester United's summer is starting to click into action after agreeing a deal for Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, beating Arsenal to the transfer.

After a slow start, it is exactly what fans have asked for - having already welcomed Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia to the club. But there is plenty more work to do with Erik ten Hag keen on further signings.

Frenkie de Jong remains to the top target though it would require some convincing despite Barcelona keen on the transfer. Jurrien Timber, Antony and Ruben Neves have all been linked and there is still nearly six weeks left in the window.

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentina international has agreed a five-year deal to become the likely third signing of the summer after Eriksen and Malacia. The Red Devils have agreed to an initial £46.8million fee with Ajax for Martinez with a further £8.5m set to come in add-ons, bringing the total up to £55.3m.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez, subject to medical, to player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements," confirmed a statement.

The transfer was expected for some time. Martinez was pictured enjoying a "farewell dinner" with his chef and later seen jetting into Manchester. "Heading to Manchester," the player wrote on his Instagram before the flight. Arsenal were also keen to sign Martinez but their interest cooled as the transfer saga reached its climax.
