Man Utd: Ten Hag 'will attract top players' to Old Trafford

Manchester United ‘will be able to attract some of the best young players’ to Old Trafford after handing Erik ten Hag the managerial reins, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Red Devils have had Ralf Rangnick at the helm since becoming the interim manager last November, but ten Hag is set to be in the dugout ahead of next season.

It was confirmed on Thursday that ten Hag will leave Ajax to become Manchester United’s new boss at the conclusion of the campaign.

The Dutchman has penned a three-year contract which has the option of being extended by another 12 months.

Manchester United have been able to lure ten Hag to the Premier League after agreeing a compensation package worth £2.5million with Ajax and the deal will see assistant manager Mitchell van der Gaag head to Old Trafford as well.

Ten Hag has been selected as Rangnick’s long-term successor despite facing stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain chief Mauricio Pochettino.

The 52-year-old has won five trophies during his time in Ajax’s hot seat, although he is on course to claim another Eredivisie title.

O’Rourke believes ten Hag has shown he is capable of improving talented youngsters and, as a result, could look to welcome inexperienced stars to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.

The journalist feels Pochettino would also have been able to attract exciting aces to the club if he had been handed the top job.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “Ten Hag has got a good reputation for working with and developing players at Ajax.

“I’m sure he will be able to attract some of the best young players across Europe to come to Old Trafford.
