Man Utd players doubt Ten Hag’s ‘personality’ can repair dressing room

The Man Utd players are reportedly doubtful that Erik ten Hag’s ‘force of personality’ can turn the club’s fortunes around.

The Ajax manager will take over at Old Trafford this summer after Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell in charge comes to an end.

Ten Hag has a huge job ahead of him at Man Utd. The Red Devils have endured another trophyless season and are set to miss out on the top four after a poor campaign.

The dressing room morale is ‘at rock bottom’, as per the Manchester Evening News, who claim that the Man Utd squad are not convinced that Ten Hag’s personality will be forceful enough to turn the club’s crisis around.

However, the players are ‘encouraged by his coaching credentials’. They are aware of his achievements with Ajax but have reservations about the Dutchman’s ability to rebuild the squad.

It is said that some players were happy at the prospect of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the Norwegian was sacked in November.

Speaking last week, Rangnick was heavily critical of the setup at Man Utd and warned that a rebuild will only work if everyone fully commits to it.

“I can only tell you from what I’ve seen and what I’ve heard and experienced so far, Erik is a good choice – a very good choice. He has shown that in the past. I’m pretty convinced that he’s the best possible coach that you can get right now,” Rangnick said.
