Man Utd legend doesn’t hold back in club assessment despite ‘positive’ Ten Hag appointment

Former Man Utd goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes Erik ten Hag’s appointment as manager is a “step in the right direction”.

The Dutchman will take charge at Old Trafford at the end of the season when Ralf Rangnick’s spell as interim boss comes to an end.

Schmeichel believes Ten Hag is in for a difficult time at Old Trafford with “everything” needing to be restructured at the club after another below-par campaign.

“It’s a decision that’s been made and I think that’s very, very positive,” the Man Utd legend told CBS (via Manchester Evening News). “There are, and I think it’s obvious to everyone, so many things that need to be done at Manchester United.

“The whole football department needs to be restructured. The way we are thinking about how things are supposed to be done, everything needs a bit of a rethink. Announcing the manager is a decision that needed to be made.
