Man Utd: Harry Maguire booed loudly by fans vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was loudly booed by fans during Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace in Australia.

The 29-year-old, who struggled at times for the Red Devils last season, started the match alongside Victor Lindelof in central defence.

But every time the ball came to the England international, loud boos could be heard from across the stadium.

Erik ten Hag made three changes to the team that beat Melbourne Victory 4-1 on Friday.

David de Gea returned to the starting line-up, while summer signing Tyrell Malacia was handed his first start in place of Luke Shaw at left-back. Marcus Rashford also started on the left flank over Anthony Elanga.

Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, who have both joined Man Utd in recent days, were not involved as they haven’t travelled to Australia. 

They pair could make their first appearances for Man Utd against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30.

Maguire was named in the starting line-up for the second consecutive pre-season friendly, after missing the 4-0 win over Liverpool, but was loudly booed by fans inside the Melbourne Cricket Ground from the first whistle.
