Manchester United have been handed a huge boost as they search for a new long-term manager, as Ajax are already making changes to their coaching staff.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has been one of the standout names linked with becoming United's new manager, as Ralf Rangnick prepares to step aside in the summer. The German has been United's interim manager this season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked last year.

With the summer fast approaching, United are expected to appoint their new manager in the coming months, with ten Hag one of the favourites, alongside PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino. But ten Hag might be the more likely, as Ajax have already started hiring.

Ajax confirmed earlier this week that club legend Klaas Jan Huntelaar has joined their technical staff in a non-playing role, as the Dutch side continue to make changes behind the scenes. The changes began as Marc Overmars left his sporting director role earlier in 2022.

And according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, there is good reason for Huntelaar's appointment. The report suggests that Ajax’s latest behind the scenes move could be a sign that current manager ten Hag is set to leave the club in the near future.
