Man Utd great Roy Keane gives brutal verdict on Chelsea and Frank Lampard's Champions League chances

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes that Frank Lampard's appointment at Chelsea until the end of the season will not solve the club's problems.

Earlier this month, Chelsea announced that they had sacked Graham Potter as their manager after a poor season which currently sees them sit in the bottom half of the Premier League. Last Thursday, Lampard was reappointed as interim boss of the Blues until the end of the season while owner Todd Boehly continues his search for a permanent replacement for Potter.

Lampard's first game back as manager ended in defeat last weekend at Wolverhampton Wanderers before taking his team to Real Madrid where they lost 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. Discussing the appointment on their Overlap tour in London, both Keane and Gary Neville were less than impressed with the current situation at Chelsea.

When asked about Lampard returning by Kelly Cates, Keane replied: "Good luck to him. No listen, good luck to him, I'm not bothered but..."

Neville then added: "The guy Boehly's having an absolute nightmare to be fair. It's not going well at all."

Presenter Josh Denzel then brings up Chelsea's chances in the Champions League and how they have previously won the competition under an interim manager. When asked if Lampard could replicate Roberto Di Matteo's success, Keane agreed with his fellow pundit Jamie Carragher.

"I can't see it, no," Keane responded. "Chelsea, no, they have got some excellent players but there is something obviously amiss at the moment.

"Even in the last couple of performances, not finding a way to win. I always look at the personality of a team.
