Man Utd fan's awful comparison of 2021/22 team vs 2009/10 Barcelona

Manchester United‘s 2021/22 season has been one to forget up until now.

The Red Devils have been eliminated from all cup competitions and currently sit sixth in the Premier League table.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Old Trafford was yet another hammer blow to their top four hopes.

There’s now the very real possibility that United will be without Champions League football next season and that simply isn’t good enough.

They’ve spent an insane amount of money on the current squad, especially last summer when they brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Yet the team littered with superstar names is playing like a mid-table outfit at best and United’s form throughout 2021/22 makes one fan’s bold comparison look even worse.

The supporter in question compared the Red Devils’ team to Barcelona‘s incredible 2009/10 side and the calls made are – and always will be – beyond a joke.

Wow. No, you’re not seeing things, a United fan claimed that only Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Carles Puyol would make it into the XI. Who’s Perdo by the way?

The funniest choice of the lot has to be Aaron Wan-Bissaka over prime Dani Alves.

Alves is arguably the greatest right-back in history, while Wan-Bissaka is now warming the bench pretty much every week.

If we’re all being honest, there’s not a single United player who would get anywhere near Barcelona’s 2009/10 starting XI.

Ronaldo at his peak perhaps would have, although the comparison above was clearly made before he was re-signed back in the summer.
